Preparing Your BrainBit Headband for Use
Good signal quality starts with proper preparation. Follow these steps before starting a session.
1. Clean the Skin and Electrodes
Gently remove skin oil from your forehead, especially where the reference and common sensors make contact.
Also clean the electrodes on the headband.
This helps ensure a stable, high-quality EEG signal.
2. Check Electrode Contact
Make sure the electrodes behind the ears and near the nape of the neck are making good contact with the skin.
Adjust the headband if needed so it sits comfortably but securely.
3. Use Foam Pads if Needed
If the electrodes feel uncomfortable or apply too much pressure, place the foam pads (4x) on the electrodes.
This can improve comfort without reducing signal quality.
4. Improve Signal Quality (If Needed)
Lightly moisten the reference and common sensors with a small amount of water.
Place slightly moist foam pads on the electrodes.
This often improves contact and signal stability, especially if the skin is dry.
Product Care and Maintenance
Battery
A full battery charge takes up to 4 hours.
Cleaning the Headband
The textile band can be washed periodically using soap and warm water.
The headband housing can be cleaned with a soft cloth lightly dampened with:
water, or
rubbing alcohol / alcohol-based sanitiser.
Cleaning the Electrodes
Clean the electrodes using the brush from the kit, lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol or alcohol-based sanitiser.
Afterwards, wipe them dry with a soft, dry cloth.
⚠️ Important:
Do not expose the device’s internal components to moisture.
Tip
Taking a minute to properly prepare your headband can make a significant difference in signal quality and how effective your session feels.
